The technology currently being prototyped by QCV will resolve the existing issues of single photon production.
The QCV flagship device is a diamond-based single photon source primarily suitable for optical fibre-based Quantum Communications. Diamond is the only material capable of delivering single photons reliably at room-temperature over prolonged time periods.The principle of this scheme is to grow microscopic diamond crystals directly onto the tips of optical fibres using a proprietary technique.
This allows a significant number of single photons emitted from the diamond crystal to be coupled directly into the optical fibre core and transmitted over long distances.QCV is currently in the development and integration phase of the single photon source where the diamond coated fibre is amalgamated with other photonic devices for applications in the quantum telecommunications systems.
