David graduated from Victoria University with a PhD in physics in 2008. During his PhD he gained significant experience in the area of optical fiber fabrication, with the bulk of his PhD dedicated to characterizing the spectroscopic properties of rare earth doped materials, towards the development of a thulium-doped fiber amplifier. David has also spent time in industry as an optoelectronic engineer at Norwood Abbey focusing on the design and construction of solid state laser systems for medical applications. Since joining the QCV in 2006, David’s primary focus involves the fabrication and characterization of diamond based single photon sources.
